We have grown up in a world of polarity.  And have assumed that there is conflict between the two.  That somehow light must defeat darkness.  That light is good and darkness is bad.  And to fight the great war between the two is the reason we are born.  To become a holy warrior is the greatest calling.  Yet we fail to see that the darkness and light of life are inseparable.  There is no light without shadow, there is no up without down, there is no youth without age, no birth without death.  There is no yang without yin.    We cannot escape the world of polarity; we exist because of it.  No male without female, and no child without those 2 polarities joining together in the midst of love, care, and bonding.  It is that whole context that contains the polarity and allows the polarity to dance with creativity.  We exist because of polarity and we find joy, insight and creation in the mixing of polarity, the synergy of polarity, the alchemy of polarity.   

Looking at today’s world there is much to be afraid of.  From war to climate emergency, to rising fascism, to AI, there are many issues that can trigger fear.  And that fear can stimulate many reactions within us.  These reactions over time can negatively impact how we think, how we feel and how we act.  If we only look at the unpleasant and painful experience of those reactions, it makes sense that we would look for strategies on how to deal with those reactions and dispel our fear.   And if we cannot find effective strategies, our fears can transform into anxiety.  Chronic fear and anxiety of the future become our default state.
